Every patient would be better off if all the doctors and nurses were super careful all the time and every effort was made to prevent complications. However, there are situations that absolutely require a blood transfusion for the patient to survive and it's irresponsible to suggest otherwise.

Sex and drugs in university
by Xanthippe inso this jw friend that got in touch out of the blue a few months ago after 24 years of shunning us agrees that the borg is not keen on university.
it is so difficult to keep to your principles because of all the immorality there according to her.
yes same old story we have been hearing for years.. if that is the case they should be fine with distance learning.

I went to a state school well known for its party atmosphere. The primary reason I chose to live on campus was that I could party and carouse without parental supervision, even though my mom's house was only 30 minutes from campus. I was 17 and really wanted out from under the constant supervision. So, the Society isn't completely wrong about the atmosphere on campus (at some schools at least) and motivations of many students. Had I been less motivated to be academically successful and get on the road to a solid career, I could have easily ended up flunking out or developing a serious substance abuse problem.

My mother read my diary when I was a teen. I was horrified and offended at the time, but later came to realize that she had legitimate reason to be worried about me. She punished me severely for what she read in my diary, which didn't seem quite fair at the time, but I certainly deserved punishment for doing the things I documented in my diary.
As a mother now, I wouldn't read my kid's diary unless I was seriously concerned about what they were up to. I wouldn't volunteer that I had done so to my kid though.

LA Times: Many researchers taking a different view of pedophilia
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://articles.latimes.com/2013/jan/14/local/la-me-pedophiles-20130115/2.
many researchers taking a different view of pedophiliapedophilia once was thought to stem from psychological influences early in life.
now, many experts view it as a deep-rooted predisposition that does not change.january 14, 2013|by alan zarembo, los angeles timesas a young boy, paul christiano loved the world of girls the way they danced, how their spindly bodies tumbled in gymnastics.

I read that article and thought about the implications. Not too long ago, similar articles were being published about homosexuality and how that appears to be hardwired from birth. The difference, of course, is that sex between consenting adults doesn't hurt anyone. I don't know how to solve the problem of pedophila, whether it's caused by nature or environment. The urges of adults, no matter how powerful, cannot be allowed to destroy the lives of children.

A word of caution
by Socrateswannabe inplease forgive me if you consider this to be presumptuous, i know i am an ultra-newbie here.
but, i see a lot of threads on jwn that read something like, "what is your dog's name" or "where's your favorite vacation spot", "what's your special name for your spouse", etc.
i give the opening posters of these threads the benefit of the doubt that they are creating them simply for entertainment purposes.

I personally don't mind at all when friends drop by unannounced on occasion. It would be a problem if it happened frequently at inconvenient times, like if someone made a habit of dropping by at 6am or every night during dinner. But - if you are brave enough to drop by unannounced, you better not complain about my uncombed hair, pajamas, and no bra even if it is the middle of the afternoon.

How long did it take you to prepare for talks or parts in the KM school?
by OneDayillBeFree inseveral years ago, whenever i got a talk slip i would get really nervous but accept it and work on it almost immediately.
of course that was way back when i still believed it all.. now they gave me a #3 talk out of the blue about a month ago and i had forgotten all about it till the meeting night.
i really thought about not showing up at all but at the last minute, i decided to go.. so when i got there the meeting had already started and so i just stayed in the back looked at the info, found 2 scriptures and then without any notes i went up and gave the stupid talk!.

It always took me ages to write the farces that passed for the parts sisters were expected to give. I could write an essay in 10 or 15 minutes, but trying to turn it into believable dialog and come up with a non-ridiculous setting took hours.
